Business Area (BA) Generation is responsible for Vattenfall's nuclear and hydropower operations. We aim to seize business opportunities and contribute to a continued efficient and environmentally friendly energy system. In a rapidly changing energy market, we face both challenges and opportunities. With a long-term significantly increasing electricity demand, there are opportunities for new development while we also develop Vattenfall's existing assets.
Fleet Development is a staff function within BA Generation responsible for strategic work, business development, supporting strategic and individual investment decisions, and monitoring our business units. This includes conducting analyses, strategy development, driving strategic processes, and pursuing various business and development opportunities. We also follow up on BA Generation's goals and progress, monitor external issues, and conduct benchmarks. Furthermore, the head of Fleet Development holds the role of Chief Nuclear Officer (CNO), responsible for ensuring nuclear safety perspectives, and within Fleet Development, there are supporting resources linked to the role.
About the Role
We are now looking for an engaged and experienced Asset Manager for the Asset Development department within Fleet Development. Our team consists of ten people focused on facility strategy, business development, and asset management. We operate from Solna and Gothenburg. Our assignments cover all markets and countries where Vattenfall, particularly BA Generation, operates.
You will be part of a team of competent and dedicated colleagues. The work offers many points of contact both within Vattenfall and externally, significant influence opportunities, and an international perspective.
About the Work as an Asset Manager
In this role, you will primarily work with asset management and business opportunities in the areas of nuclear power, hydropower, and large-scale energy storage solutions.
Examples of your tasks:
- Participate in and develop the asset management process (portfolio and asset strategy, investment planning, decision-making process for investments, etc.)
- Lead, coordinate, or participate in investigations and initiatives
- Act as a sponsor/client or support a sponsor/client in development projects
- Represent BA Generation in forums and steering groups related to the business's prioritized areas
- Analyze, evaluate, and be responsible for progress in the above areas
- Contribute a holistic perspective aimed at finding optimized solutions in the above areas
Requirements
We are looking for someone who, through active dialogue and sharp analysis, understands various interests and weighs them into balanced recommendations for Vattenfall's best. You can capture the essence of important information and are curious about how others have tackled similar challenges. You are good at establishing and maintaining networks and have a strong drive and high integrity.
You thrive when things happen and you get to be part of creating progress. You take responsibility for your delivery and ask for what you need to know. You have a strategic mindset and consider the long-term consequences and significance of issues in your work. To succeed in the role, you need to be able to build relationships, communicate, manage simultaneous tasks, and quickly switch focus between the whole and the detail.
In addition to this, we see that:
- You are a trained engineer or economist or have equivalent work experience and education
- You have previous work experience in the energy sector
- You speak and write both Swedish and English fluently.
- Travel is required, and a driver's license (B) is a requirement
- You have good structure in your work, good IT skills, and experience working with various IT systems/tools for analysis, forecasting, planning, and reporting/follow-up
